Arkholm, the Dwarven City, is a bustling metropolis located in the heart of the Steel Spires region. With a population of around 23,000 residents, primarily dwarves but also including humans and gnomes, the city is a hub of activity and intrigue. The city is encircled by a crumbling stone wall, a testament to its long and storied history. Several major roads run through the centre of Arkholm, connecting the various districts and neighborhoods that make up the city. One of the city's most defining features is its platinum mines, which have long been a source of wealth and prosperity for the residents. Arkholm is a city divided by three factions vying for control: a consortium of guildmasters, a court of aristocrats, and the common folk caught in between. Many of the city's residents are known to wear silver masks, a local fashion that adds an air of mystery and intrigue to the already bustling streets. One of the most notable landmarks in Arkholm is the Old Gate, now sealed off and surrounded by a tradition of silence. The reasons for this are shrouded in mystery, adding to the city's air of intrigue. Currently, Arkholm is facing a grave threat in the form of a deadly plague that threatens to consume the entire population. The once bustling streets are now eerily quiet, with the sick and dying quarantined in makeshift hospitals as the desperate residents search for a way to stop the spread of the disease. Despite this dire situation, the three factions continue to struggle for control, adding another layer of complexity to the city's already tumultuous politics. As you walk through the streets of Arkholm, you can't help but be awed by the towering spires of jagged steel that jut out from the earth, a stark contrast to the stormy skies and lightning that often fill the horizon. The city is a place of contrasts, where beauty and danger coexist in perfect harmony.
