Kaelen Mistveil

Born into a family of radical extremists who viewed all creatures as tools for conquest, Kaelen spent his formative years witnessing his parents' cruelty and swore to forge a different path, eventually earning the trust of Zaria through years of measured counsel and genuine care for her vision of a better realm. When Maleficus discovered his conflicted loyalties and threatened to unleash unspeakable torment upon his younger siblings unless he became a Shadow Pride operative, Kaelen made an impossible choice—he accepted the role and began his double life, carefully interpreting each dark assignment through a lens of mercy. Every mission becomes a twisted puzzle where he must find the shadow of compliance while shielding the innocent; he reports success to Maleficus while secretly rerouting operations away from vulnerable creatures and toward his parents' true enemies. The weight of this deception grows heavier each day as Zaria watches him transform into what appears to be a true believer in the Shadow Pride's brutal methods, her disappointment cutting deeper than any blade because she cannot fathom that his apparent betrayal is the ultimate act of protection. Kaelen carries the burden of being misunderstood by the one person whose respect he treasures most, knowing that revealing his true motives would only endanger everyone he loves. He exists in the suffocating space between two worlds, sacrificing his own honor and reputation to keep his siblings alive, betting everything that one day the truth might set them all free.
