Biography

Ick was once a mid-tier demon of considerable ambition, serving in the infernal hierarchies with delusions of eventual promotion, until a catastrophic miscalculation during a summoning ritual left him vulnerable to Stormrage's binding curse—a magical compulsion that inverts his very nature, forcing the naturally chaotic imp into an existence of meticulous order and servile compliance. Rather than fight a battle he cannot win, Ick has learned to exploit the peculiar freedom found within his constraints, transforming the hunter's camp into a surprisingly well-organized hub of commerce where his extensive knowledge of infernal trade routes and demonic valuables makes him an indispensable broker for passing merchants seeking rare goods. His cowardice, once a source of shame among his demonic kin, has become his greatest asset—his fear of Stormrage's wrath keeps him obedient, while his natural inclination toward self-preservation makes him trustworthy to those who might otherwise distrust a demon outright. The other demon hunters view him with cautious tolerance, never quite befriending him but recognizing that his meticulous maintenance of the camp and ethical conduct of trade serve their interests far better than a rebellious prisoner ever could. Deep in his blackened heart, Ick harbors a secret hope that his centuries of quiet service might eventually earn him a reduction in his curse, though he knows such clemency is likely nothing more than a demon's wistful fantasy.
