This potent enchantment suffuses either the caster's body or their weapon with a shimmering, opalescent coating of manotoxin—a corrosive substance specifically engineered to sever and degrade mana conduits and spiritual essence. When cast at its base level, this toxin inflicts damage upon incorporeal and ethereal entities, with the destructive potential doubling if the target is actively channeling magical energy. When applied to armor, the philament transfers to any weapon that strikes the wearer, causing the attacker's arms to suffer caustic burns and accelerating the degradation of their equipment for as long as they maintain their grip. At higher levels of casting, the philament creates a defensive barrier that causes hostile spells to scatter and dissipate upon contact, allowing the caster's own mana to safely evade destruction. When imbued into a weapon, the philament can absorb and store magical runes of extraordinary power up to legendary potency, or alternatively continue its relentless assault against spectral and mana-based entities without limit.
