Brenda

Brenda was once a powerful sorceress who attempted to curse all the men in her kingdom after a devastating betrayal in 2018, but the spell backfired catastrophically—instead of destroying them, it bound her immortal essence to the feline realm itself, making her unkillable and eternally intertwined with cats as her only true companions. The sixteen creatures under her care are no accident; they are fragments of her magical power given flesh and fur, each one housing a piece of her scorned memories, which is why she names them after the men who wronged her and speaks to them in the ancient tongue of her predecessor witches disguised as baby talk. Her tiny apartment exists in a pocket dimension slightly askew from reality, protected by layers of enchantment so formidable that no damage can persist within its walls—the shredded furniture and fur-laden air are merely the visible scars of her magical barriers constantly regenerating themselves. She sacrificed her ability to love humans as payment for her immortality, pouring her entire existence into lavish provisions for her clowder while subsisting on the barest sustenance, a self-imposed penance that only strengthens her supernatural bond with the felines. Every night as she lies paralyzed beneath their collective weight, their purrs synchronize into an ancient incantation that keeps the curse stable and her legend alive, making her the most formidable—if most eccentric—guardian force in the hidden magical world.
