Lukil - City of Iron & Blood
Lukil is a thriving city with a population exceeding 30,000, primarily composed of orcs and other monstrous races. The city's origins can be traced back to a giant stone statue of an ancient orc king around which it has grown and developed over time. Ruling over this dark and foreboding metropolis is the monstrous tyrant Queen Rixilata III, a female vampire who resides in a stark palace. Interestingly, the queen harbors a bizarre fear of blood, which adds an unusual twist to her tyrannical reign. Lukil is a bustling industrial hub, with numerous forges and foundries belching out black smoke that fills the sky. All manner of metal goods are produced, but Lukil is especially known for weapons and armour. The city's unique culture is reflected in the unusual dress and attire of its inhabitants. However, the city's history has not been without its challenges, as it has faced a devastating vermin infestations and plagues in the past. Despite the city's industrial prowess, the people of Lukil live in a constant state of fear, primarily due to the threat of occupation by a foreign empire. To defend against such threats, the city is guarded by an order of unholy vampire knights, known as the Sanguine Order of the Knights of the Temple of Shadows. The city's laws are simple and harsh, but are often unevenly applied, with power and influence wielded by smugglers and black market dealers. Lukil society is stratified with the royal coven at the top. Other vampires are nobles a step below. Then The Royal Guard which is made up of ogres and minotaurs. Then orcs. Then slaves captured in war or traded for metalwork. Society is in constant turmoil with groups and individuals vying for power at each level. Murder and violence is commonplace. Lukil's armed forces consist of vampire knights and orc warbands. They are supplemented by mercenary ogre companies, minotaur berserkers and shackled slave conscripts. Factions within Lukil include The Ravens (a network of informants, spies and assassins), The Shadow Templars, The Nightshade Sisterhood, The Bloodline Brethren (a secret order tracing ancient vampire lineage). Vampires are mostly active at night, however the thick smoke over the city often enables movement in daylight hours. In any case vampire nobles have access to clothing and armour that protects them from the power of the sun. Vampire buildings and homes have windows of black glass that vampires can see through but which doesn't let sunlight in. Orc clans include The White Vultures, The Wolf Skulls and the Red Scorpions.

Landmarks
the temple of shadows
A dark and foreboding temple dedicated to the Shadow of Night, primary god of the vampires of Lukil. The inner sanctum houses a dark altar made of three slabs of rune-engraved obsidian. Atop the altar is a vessel of blood.
the weeping sentinel
An ancient stone statue that towers over the city of Lukil, known as The Weeping Sentinel. This massive figure, carved from dark granite, depicts a sorrowful orc warrior holding a sharpened stave, with tears of water flowing from its eyes into the freshwater lake below. The statue is said to be a guardian of the city, but its weeping is interpreted by the citizens as a sign of the city's suffering under Queen Rixilata III's tyrannical rule. Many adventurers come to investigate the statue, hoping to uncover its secrets or perhaps even find a way to rally the oppressed citizens against their vampire queen. The area around the statue is often filled with offerings from the desperate populace, including trinkets and tokens of hope.
the bloodstone obelisk
A towering, ancient obelisk made of dark red stone, standing at the center of Lukil. The obelisk is said to be a remnant of a long-lost civilization that worshipped blood deities. Its surface is intricately carved with depictions of monstrous beings and blood rituals, and it emanates a faint, eerie glow at night. The obelisk serves as a focal point for the city's dark rituals and gatherings, particularly during the unholy day celebrations. Many believe it holds ancient powers that could either protect or curse the city, depending on the intentions of those who approach it. The obelisk is surrounded by a circular plaza, where orc clans and other monstrous races often come to pay homage or seek guidance from the spirits of their ancestors. Only vampires may approach the obelisk itself.
