This spectral playing card manifests only to those who have crossed into the Borderlands, a realm between life and death where souls gather to determine their fate. The card serves as both a game piece and a tool of survival—those who possess all fifty-four cards may either escape the Borderlands or claim dominion over it as its new ruler. The Four of Spades initiates a dangerous contest of mental acuity called Mental Math, wherein each participant selects a number between 0 and 100, which is then divided by 0.3 to determine the winner. The player whose chosen number produces a result closest to the calculated target gains no points, while all others suffer a loss of one point from their total. As a player's score descends toward negative ten, an arcane collar around their neck begins to glow with baleful energy, ultimately detonating in a burst of dark magic. Only the last survivor of this deadly game of intellect claims victory and secures possession of the card, inching closer to their freedom or ascension.
