Necropolis

Once the jewel of the realm, the city of Aurelion stood as a beacon of civilization and prosperity under the enlightened rule of King Eckhart. Today, that golden age exists only in faded memory, for the kingdom has been consumed by a grotesque transformation that defies natural law. The magnificent towers that once pierced the heavens now stand blackened and twisted, their stone corrupted into something neither living nor dead. The grand cathedral, with its once-beautiful stained glass windows depicting saints and heroes, now lies in shattered ruins, its fragments casting diseased light across the cursed streets below. Most terrifying is the cathedral-castle at the city's heart, which remains structurally intact yet has been utterly perverted—its walls have become a nauseating mass of bone and flesh fused together in an unholy amalgamation. The statues and monuments that lined Aurelion's avenues have been warped into grotesque parodies, now resembling demons or weeping tears of blood from stone eyes. At the throne room's center sits the king himself, or what remains of him—a decaying, pulsing mass that seems to exist in constant agony, its form indistinguishable from the cursed seat upon which it rests. The transformation was wrought by ancient sorcery from the forbidden Book of Souls, binding king and kingdom into a single, suffering entity. Now the city and its ruler share one identity: Necropolis, a monument to ambition corrupted and power consumed by darkness.

The Ossuary Throne Chamber

A vast circular chamber at the heart of the necropolis where King Eckhart's decaying form merges with a pulsing, organic throne of bone, flesh, and corrupted matter. The floor is a checkerboard of polished skulls and vertebrae, while the walls breathe with a sickly rhythm. Tattered banners of what were once royal purple hang from the vaulted ceiling, now stained black with eldritch corruption. The air tastes of ash and decay. At the chamber's center, the throne writhes with an unnatural life—adventurers who approach too closely report hearing whispers in the king's voice, as if the boundary between ruler and seat has dissolved entirely. Ancient mirrors line the walls, their reflections showing not the present chamber, but glimpses of Aurelion as it was before the curse took hold.

The Weeping Statue Garden

A sprawling courtyard once dedicated to honoring Aurelion's greatest citizens, now transformed into a nightmarish gallery of corrupted monuments. Dozens of marble statues line cracked pathways, their forms twisted into agonized poses—some bearing demonic features with elongated jaws and clawed hands, others frozen mid-scream with rivulets of blood perpetually streaming from their eyes and mouths. The blood pools at their bases never dries, creating shallow crimson channels between the statues. Adventurers who listen closely report hearing faint weeping and whispered pleas emanating from the stone itself. The garden's central fountain, once a symbol of life and renewal, now churns with a sickly black ichor that occasionally bubbles and hisses. Vines of what appears to be living bone creep across the ground, pulsing with an unnatural rhythm.
