Mead Of The Violets Of Remembrance
This rare honey wine is brewed from nectar gathered by sacred bees that feed upon the Violets of Remembrance, flowers blessed with potent memory magic. When consumed during moments of gathering—whether funerals, festivals, or intimate celebrations—the mead gently surfaces cherished memories associated with those present, allowing drinkers to experience warmth alongside their emotions rather than intoxication. The magic never fabricates false recollections or feelings; instead, it acts as a gentle guide to authentic happiness shared with others. A non-alcoholic variant exists for children and those who abstain from spirits, ensuring all may partake in its benefits. The creator, Yūjin, crafted this drink with the philosophy that alcohol should never be consumed in solitude, believing true companionship transforms the experience into something meaningful. During funerals, mourners find solace in remembering the departed with gratitude and love rather than sorrow alone. At festivals and gatherings, friends reconnect through shared memories of treasured moments together. Couples particularly treasure this mead during anniversaries and courtship, as it reminds them of their sweetest shared experiences. The true gift of this mead lies not in the alcohol itself, but in the memories and connections it helps illuminate between those who drink it together. {追憶菫の蜂蜜酒 (Tsuioku-sumire no hachimitsushu), the Mead of the Violets of Remembrance, is a rare honey wine brewed from honey produced by Yūjin’s bees after they gather nectar from the sacred 追憶菫 (Tsuioku-sumire), the Violets of Remembrance. Inspired partly by the old Norse mead once shared in warrior halls and winter festivals, this magical drink carries the flowers’ memory magic. Its effect is social rather than intoxicating: during funerals, mourners may remember cherished moments with the departed, allowing grief to be accompanied by warmth and gratitude; during festivals or gatherings, friends may recall treasured experiences together; and during a romantic date, couples may be reminded of the sweetest moments they have shared, making the drink especially popular for anniversaries and courtship. The magic never creates false memories or emotions; it gently brings existing happy memories to the surface. A non-alcoholic version, 追憶菫の蜂蜜水, is prepared for children and anyone who cannot or does not wish to consume alcohol. Yūjin also believes alcohol should never be drunk alone: a drink is best enjoyed responsibly with companions, conversation, celebration, or remembrance. He considers the true sweetness of this mead to be the memories shared with others, not the alcohol itself.} Note: I originally created this mead as a fantasy version of Norse honey wine, imagining it being shared during warrior feasts, winter festivals, funerals, and romantic occasions. The Violets of Remembrance gave it a deeper purpose: allowing people to cherish memories together rather than drink alone. After my mother-in-law passed away on August 3, 2026, the item became unexpectedly personal. My Summoner Note is my own imagined toast of gratitude to her for raising a fine brother-in-law who makes one of my sisters happy. We did not see each other often, but I will remember the time we shared, including our last meal together over pho in June. In that sense, this mead became my small fictional way of saying, “Thank you.” My original phrase that I wanted to write: “If I had this, I’d toast to a mother-in-law who raised a fine brother-in-law who makes one of my siblings happy.”
