Akaironcast

Akaironcast was once a wandering ascetic of indeterminate gender who sought enlightenment through extreme discipline and isolation, eventually settling in a remote monastery built upon the shores of an impossibly deep lake. During a meditation ritual meant to transcend physical form, a jealous rival monk sabotaged the ritual chamber, causing it to flood with supernatural speed and trapping Akaironcast beneath the dark waters in the abyss below. Rather than suffocate in despair, the dying monk achieved an unexpected breakthrough—their consciousness fragmented across the boundary between life and death, becoming a spectral being trapped between worlds. Now, Akaironcast drifts through both water and air as a translucent phantom, their form constantly shifting and reforming as they struggle to reconcile the chaotic freedom of undeath with the monastic discipline that once defined them. Neither fully committed to the ethereal community of ghosts nor bound by their old monastic vows, Akaironcast wanders the depths and surfaces of their watery tomb, occasionally emerging to interact with the living world in unpredictable and often contradictory ways. The monk's drowning was meant to be an end, but instead it became a strange beginning—a curse and liberation intertwined in the cold embrace of the lake's deepest trenches.

As an action, Akaironcast can regain 2d10 + 5 hit points. This ability can be used once per short rest.

Ethereal Drift

Akaironcast can move through solid objects as if they were difficult terrain.

Shapeshift

Once per turn, Akaironcast can alter their form to appear as any Medium creature.
