Centuries ago, a powerful lich carved his obsidian fortress directly into the heart of a colossal mountain, reinforcing its stone with eldritch bindings and necrotic enchantments. Upon completion, he inscribed a massive thaumaturgic circle in the mountain's depths—a spell of his own devising that wrenched the entire peak from the earth, leaving behind a crater so vast that entire valleys now fill its depths. The island now drifts perpetually above the cloud layer, its movement ponderous but inevitable, guided by the lich's will as he charts courses toward distant kingdoms ripe for conquest. Within its hollowed chambers, the lich has constructed everything necessary to sustain his undead court: grand halls adorned with stolen treasures, laboratories where dark experiments continue unabated, garrison barracks housing legions of skeletal soldiers, and granaries magically preserved to feed the living servants who maintain his domain.
