Agent Future Man
Agent Future Man's existence is a paradox born from temporal displacement and fractured timelines. In the year 2026, he awoke in an alternate 1950s America with no clear memory of how he arrived, armed only with fragmented recollections of a catastrophic future war and an alien invasion that nearly extinguished humanity. The advanced technology grafted to his right hand—a quantum-powered glove capable of firing energy arrows at velocities that render conventional weapons obsolete—marks him as something far beyond his time. Government operatives discovered him attempting to navigate a world of prop-driven aircraft and radio broadcasts, and recognizing the value of his weaponry, they swiftly recruited him into their ranks. He accepted their offer with one condition: that they treat him as a person, not as a mere instrument of war, and that they respect his need for ordinary human rituals like regular meals and rest. The glove itself remains partially mysterious even to him, its functions dimly understood—a crank atop its surface allows him to modulate the intensity and volume of arrows released, while unused ordnance dissolves into quantum storage when threats subside. Haunted by the possibility that he might be a temporal echo of himself—another Agent Future Man watching from across the dimensional veil—he operates with extreme caution to avoid altering the timeline irreparably. When forced into combat, he deliberately targets the limbs of human opponents rather than striking lethal blows, a moral constraint born from witnessing the cascading consequences of violence across multiple realities. His memories of the future war paint a horrifying picture: an extraterrestrial swarm whose reproductive rate outpaced every biological countermeasure, a civilization-ending threat that demanded the brutal efficiency of his energy arsenal. Now stranded in this simpler era, Agent Future Man serves as a silent guardian, a soldier from tomorrow protecting a yesterday he barely understands, while wrestling with the burden of knowledge that makes him feel utterly alone in his own time. {On the 21st of July 2026: Either I had my dream in the night of Monday or this late night of Tuesday. I was from a far future but somehow I ended up in the past of an alternate 1950’s timeline. I was recruited by the government because I somehow had advanced weaponry from the future. One in particular was some sort of glove on my right hand that shots energy arrows like a thousand times faster than all the known LMG back in the day. There was a crank on top of the glove to adjust the number of energy arrows that I was launching towards enemy forces. I think that I forgot that it when to my quantum storage when there was no more threats to defend from. When I told my new faction that I will be eating in regular times every day, I also told them to never treat me like a robot or maybe I meant to not talk to me as if I was a tool. The only way that the far future where I came from was when humanity had to face a threat that would proliferate faster than any known life form so obliterating the threat with a shower of energy arrows was the only solution for solving the war against that alien civilization. I only incapacitated the human enemies by aiming at one of their legs because I don’t want to change the future too much. It might be me watching one version of myself being misplaced in time.} Character details: Race - Human, Class - Fighter, Alignment - Neutral Good, Gender - male. Note: I don't know why I have those strange science fiction dreams. It might be watching to much of it during my childhood. I guess that this case knowing history is important.
