Character
Death-Bat
Born as Kael Vesperos in the mining colonies of the Ashdeep, Death-Bat was a sickly child whose constant screaming from night terrors drove his family to abandon him in the caverns below, hoping the echoing darkness would muffle his anguished wails. Alone and starving, he discovered that his screams possessed an unnatural resonance—they shattered stone and fractured bone—and he learned to weaponize his anguish through a pact with something ancient that dwelt in those depths, a being that fed on suffering and promised him strength beyond measure. He emerged from the caves transformed and broken, his mind fractured into competing personas: one a savage, domineering tyrant who ruled through terror, and another a pathetic, fawning servant desperate for approval from any authority figure powerful enough to remind him of his worthlessness. When Draar Noir's recruiters discovered him, they recognized in Death-Bat a perfect instrument of control—a man whose psychological fractures made him simultaneously brutalize the weak and grovel before the strong, never threatening the hierarchy but always reinforcing it through calculated cruelty. He rose through the ranks by perfecting his screams into instruments of psychological devastation, learning to shatter not just bodies but the very will to resist in his victims. Now, as the third general, Death-Bat exists in a perpetual state of schizophrenic servitude, swinging between sadistic dominance and obsequious submission, his warlock powers drawing strength from the pain he inflicts and the humiliation he endures.
