Hellmouths

Created by Draz

Born from the fevered nightmares of a realm that corrupts all within it, the Hellmouths are abominations that should never have drawn breath in any realm. Each mouth that riddles their reptilian hides represents a different scream—the anguished cries of countless souls devoured during the Hell mouth's primordial rampages—and they hunger still with that same insatiable appetite. The creatures were bound by elder forces to the deepest pits of the abyss, their venomous spines serving as a constant reminder of their cursed nature, each spike capable of rotting flesh from bone with a mere scratch. Legend whispers that Hellmouths are not truly alive but rather wounds in reality itself, places where the barrier between dimensions grows thin and hungry; their very presence causes the fabric of existence to weep and writhe. When one occasionally breaks free from its infernal chains, entire civilizations flee before it, for its maw—large enough to swallow fortifications whole—can gnaw through the mightiest materials as though they were parchment. Some scholars believe that Hellmouths are punishment incarnate, cursed to wander the worlds as harbingers of apocalypse, forever seeking the end. Yet perhaps most terrifying is the possibility that they are not prisoners at all, but merely sleeping, and one day all their chains will shatter at once. During the war Eve managed to release one and bring it to battle, a feat most demons deemed too dangerous, a sign that there is nothing she will not do for victory.
