Character
Jormungandr, In the Face of Death
Before the demon invasion, a crazed blood mage devoted to Lucifer the Golden dragon of sin tried to create a god and weaponize terror itself by binding the screams of the damned into flesh and bone, then fusing this grotesque amalgamation with the blood of a fallen celestial serpent Ouroboros. What emerged from their profane ritual was Jormungandr—a serpent of impossible proportions whose very presence warped reality into nightmares made manifest. For years the creature festered in the wilderness surrounding Vale Peak, growing fat on the fear it cultivated among the city's inhabitants, turning protectors into cowards and allies into enemies through its mastery of psychological torment. The beast believed itself invulnerable, a god among mortals, never accounting for the fact that those who had already glimpsed death itself—the dracolichs Loriana and Momento Mori—could not be broken by mere illusions and dread. When the two undead dragons finally cornered their quarry in the mountain passes, they unleashed a coordinated assault of such vicious sorcery that even Jormungandr's twisted magic began to falter, its scales cracking beneath relentless magical fire. Yet fate, cruel and capricious, intervened at the moment of the serpent's doom when Momento Mori suddenly abandoned the killing blow to rush toward the city of Moradane, where a demonic invasion threatened to consume everything. Left alone to finish what had been started, Loriana pressed her advantage with renewed ferocity, but the colossal serpent, sensing a reprieve in its executioner's divided attention, rallied its remaining strength with savage desperation. Jormungandr's eyes burned with primal malice as it realized that against a single dracolich, even wounded and isolated, it might yet claw its way to victory and freedom. The mountains themselves seemed to hold their breath as the two titans locked in combat once more, each blow threatening to reshape the landscape, each spell tearing holes in the fabric of existence—a battle destined to echo through legend as a monument to chaos and defiance against the inevitable.
